The following dogs are in mostly in foster homes with Cherokee County Humane Society but a few are currently guests of Cobb County Animal Shelter and on borrowed time - all are seeking permanent homes. All fully vetted unless otherwise noted. Some have some special needs and some just continue to get overlooked as people just dont see how great they are!

Please note that each time a permanent home is found for one of our fosters, it allows us to rescue another dog. Some of the animals listed are new but some have been in foster care for a while now patiently waiting for a forever home! Application, contract and adoption donation required. We had the distinct pleasure of having 3 amazing dogs from Cobb County Animal Control at our adoption on Sunday. Sadly, it was a slow day and none of the Cobb shelter dogs found homes and we didn’t adopt out any dogs that allowed us to take any of these sweeties into our program. It just killed us to send them back to the shelter, not knowing what the future may hold for them. Those 3 dogs are marked by an asterick! Can’t adopt one of these 3, consider becoming a CCHS foster home for one!

*ZINC – Also known as Big Red. A stunning Golden Retreiver mix. What an AMAZING, sweet, wonderful boy! Believe it or not, this big beauty is about 100 lbs and all love!! Awesome boy! He is about 5 years old and is housetrained and leash trained. Does not make a mess in his kennel until he has to. Very sweet and laid back. It is hard to believe his family has not looked for him in the shelter. They taught him so much. He sits and stays, shakes and rolls over. He would be a great addition to any family. Zinc is fully vetted! Zinc is currently a resident of the very overcrowded Cobb Shelter.

*ROCKY BALBOA – Wow!! This doll baby has it all – looks and personality!! Really sweet and playful 1 yr. old 42 lb Pitbull mix. . Walks well on his leash. Likes to give kisses. He has just been neutered and had all shots, including rabies. He is housetrained, plays ball. How can you go wrong with him? Yesterday, we gave him a big old Rawhide and you’d have thought it was Christmas for how happy he was. He would chew it for a bit, them play with it, them snuggle with it and then start all over again! Balboa is currently a resident of the very overcrowded Cobb Shelter.

*NIKKI (a/k/a Lucy) - What a Precious 2 year old Yellow Lab girl. She looks JUST like a miniature version of Marley at only about 40 lbs. She is a gorgeous girl who is even sweeter than she is pretty!!! She has just recently been spayed and is now ready for a great home. She loves to go for walks and appears to be housetrained. Nikki is currently a resident of the very overcrowded Cobb Shelter.

LARS – Amazing? Yes!! Sweet? Yes! Just short of perfect? Absolutely! Lars is a wonderful 3 yr old, 80 lb gorgeous Black Lab who was rescued from a local shelter where no one ever came looking for him. We can’t figure out why since he is such a nice dog. He is very loving and just wants to be near you! He is good with kids too! He likes to just hang out and he would never pass up a good belly rub! Lars rides well in the car, walks nicely on the leash and loves to play ball! He is great with other dogs but would be just as happy being the center of attention! He is a bit too curious about cats and would do best in a cat free home! Lars is even beautifully house trained. He is neutered, fully vetted and microchipped.

NICK - Its absolutely impossible to capture the cuteness that is Nick in a picture, they just dont do him justice! Nick is THE most adorable, approx 25 lbs French Bulldog/Rat Terrier mix. He has the build and coloring of a Frenchie with the tail and nose of a Rat! Sweet Nick’s family decided they didn’t want him anymore and left him at a local county shelter, so we took him in! The shelter he was rescued from told us he was 8 yrs old but we just don’t think he is over 5 yrs! Nick is pretty much perfect. He is sweet and loving and very low maintenance. He rides well in the car and likes to go for walks on the leash. He fancies himself a lap dog and loves to snuggle in the bed. He thinks belly rubs are the best! He absolutely loves his toys and will play fetch if someone will play fetch with him and if not will happily entertain himself! He is perfectly houstrained. He is great with dogs and oblivious to cats. Nick is neutered, fully vetted and microchipped. No small kids please.

MILO - Milo is the CUTEST 5 yr old 5 lb Chihuahua. He was rescued from a local shelter after no one reclaimed him. We dont know why as he is just as sweet as can be. He needs to gain about a pound but thats about it. He loves to be held and one of his favorite things to do is to snuggle. Cats kind of scare him as do bigger dogs but mellow dogs his size are just right for playing. Milo is fully vetted and chipped. He is alos housebroken. NO small kids please.

LUNA - Luna is an adorable 12 lb Chihuahua/Pug mix about eight years old. She really likes both dogs and cats but would be just as happy as an only child at the center of attention! She is housebroken and uses the doggy door. Luna is a happy girl - and she loves being part of a family. She is a total snuggle bug!! She loves going for walks and rides in the car! Like many Chihuahuas , Luna takes her time getting to know new people, but is so very sweet once the introductions are over. Sadly, b/c of her initial shyness, she is overlooked at adoption days.

ASTRO - Astro is a three year old mix, we think something with German Shepherd and Pitbull but who knows - what we do know is what a good looking guy he is and with personality to match!! He’s only weighs about 47 lbs, is black and tan with one ear that flops down and one that stands up, and he’s always smiling! He’s a happy, friendly, kissy dog who wants a family of his own, probably with no children under 12, as he’s very strong and may knock them over. He would love to play ball in the yard for as long as you’d be happy to throw it! He comes and sits on command, and learned to walk on a lead within 24hours. He is totally house trained and crate trained, and has had all his shots and been neutered and is even microchipped. He plays very well with other dogs, and even seems quite gentle with my smaller (30lbs) dog. He loves to wrestle and chase with other dogs. He loves to chew on a nice big bone or treat and will devour it quicker than you could imagine! He loves to have his Kong stuffed with biscuits and peanut butter. However, he does chase cats, so must go to a home without any cats . He does seek a home with a securely fenced yard and really does need a wood fence. However, mostly he just wants to be with his people. He is even house and crate trained.

SKIPPER - Skipper is THE cutest 2 yr old Beagle boy. His foster homes loves him to death, however the cats in his foster home jusrt arent feeling the love!! Aside from his desire to play with the cats, Skipper is a wonderful boy! He loves to play and does need access to a securely fenced yard. Skipper is even housebroken!

SUKI - My name is Suki. I am an 8 month old cattle-dog mix who loves to play with toys and chew bones. I am still working on my housetraining but I do well in a crate. I know how to sit and lay down for treats. I am good with kids and great with cats. I would like to live in a home with a fenced yard and maybe another dog to play with.

CHYNA - Chyna is a wonderful 8 yr old 20 lb purebred Red Shiba Inu. She came into foster care b/c her family couldn’t take care of her any longer. Sweet Chyna has some major skin issues that we have FINALLY diagnosed. She is allergic to several things but has started allergy shots and should be ready for her forever home soon! Despite major issues with her skin she is THE sweetest dog. She loves everyone no matter what. . JAYKES - Jaykes is a healthy, smart 14-month-old Siberian Husky mix. He is VERY active, handsome, and fun-loving. He knows some commands and can also be quite the entertainer. He loves to run, walk, play ball and tug-of-war. He also enjoys long hikes in the woods and is a decent running partner. He is very socialized and gets along great with kids and other dogs. He needs a 6-foot fenced relatively large yard and would enjoy a playmate. He has a lot of love to offer and would make a great addition to many homes. Jaykes is housebroken, microchipped, neutered and current on all meds.

MIKEY – Picture doesn’t even come close to showing how good looking sweet Mikey is (and I do mean sweet!) Mikey is a very sweet boy! He is 3 years old and is a Hound mix. He loves to spend time with people! He loves everyone he meets. He seems to be good with other dogs too. From the limited amount of children we have encountered on our walks, he seems to especially love them! Mikey would do best in a home with other dogs and with a family to spend time with! He knows how to sit, shake and stay. He knows to stay off of furniture, is house trained and barely sheds! He would make the perfect family dog. Mikey is neutered, fully vetted and microchipped!

ALFIE - Alfie is a wonderful 3-4 yr old Newfie/Flat Coat Retriever mix who was rescued from a very rural shelter. The plan was for him to be a threapy dog but he decided he would rather just be a family dog. Sweet Alfie was neglected but despite it all is still a good dog. He did have heartworms that have since beemn treated, is neutered, fully vetted and has even had his hips checked and given the a-ok! Alfie is fine with dogs and enjoys rides in the car. A fenced yard is preferred. he seeks a home without young children

BULLET – f/k/a Jonesy . His picture doesnt even come close to showing how adorable he really is. Bullet is a 5 yr old Beagle Basset mix. He is so sweet and well mannered, he must have had a family that loved him. He is good with other dogs too! Please consider giving this doll baby a home.

JASPER - Hi! My name is Jasper and I’m a black/brown/white shepherd mix. I turned a year old in April and I am crate-trained. I like to act like I’m in charge, but I know I’m not. I LOVE taking baths, playing with water guns, chasing a laser light and playing fetch. I love to play with other dogs, and to chew on my bone in my down time. I love to be around people and don’t like being left alone. Going for walks is fun too, because of all the smells and sights to see. I’m shy around new people, but I’ll warm up to you in no time!

BAILEY - Sweet sweet Bailey is a 8 yr old Beagle mix, possibly with Bulldog? She came into a local shelter as a stray with a 5 lb mass hanging off her chest. Despite what had to be horrible discomfort, she is still as sweet as can be. Bailey has since had surgery to have the mass removed, is recovering very nicely and will be ready for a home of her own in just a couple weeks. Baily is spayed, fully vetted and microchipped too!

HEMINGWAY - When Hemingway was rescued several months ago from a local county shelter, he was basically bald from untreated flea allergies. Who knew what a cutie he would turn out to be, but boy is he! He is so sweet and loving too! He is good with cats and dogs but really he just wants to be near his person. We suspect he is about 10 yrs old, but he sure acts younger. Hemingway is fully vetted, chipped and even had a dental!

ABBY - Abby is a beautiful 8 yr old, 70 lb, German Shorthaired Pointer in search of a new forever home. She is a very sweet girl who is seeking a home where she will be the only pet and the center of attention. She loves her humans, she just needs the chance to show you. Abby is completely housebroken . She is spayed and fully vetted. Fenced yard preferred

PEBBLES - Pebbles is a boxer/AB mix 5 years old. She was adopted to a family 4 years ago. This family has since had a child so Pebbles was put outside. Pebbles didn’t have any problems with the child, they just put her out . She is fine with kids of all sizes and some other dogs and is great around cats. She currently lives with children 8 months old and 3 years old and is wonderful with them. Pebbles is housetrained, crate trained, has leash manners, sits, downs and comes on command. Pebbles is spayed and fully vetted. Unfortunately, her family didn’t bother to give her monthly heartworm prevention and she is now heartworm positive. Pebbles is being treated for heartworms and applications are being taken for pre-adoption. Pebbles is a wonderful dog, if you are looking for a great dog as an addition to your family she’s the one, don’t hesitate, a great dog like this won’t last. **

Can’t you imagine you’re own dog or cat suffering from a bad disease like a heart murmer? A cute little dog named Charlie is suffering.Time is running out as his life flashes before his eyes, Charlie is very sick and needs YOUR help. Will you try to help a cute dog or will you sit back and relax in front of the TV? Dogs all around the world like Charlie, are going through this pain. Please send in information about dogs just like Charlie, and send in donations to help dogs like Charlie get better!

Charlie has cancer, blind , anemia, bad teeth, and a heart murmer. Charlie has gone through this his whole life, and can’t stop the hurting. Charlie was found on the side of the road by two kind people. The two kind people could not take care of him, so they put him on Craigs List. Then hope was found! The Cherokee County Human Society rescued Charlie from the two kind people. then a nice lady named Joyce, offered to foster Charlie until someone could adopt him.

Then thats when me and my mom came along! Me and my mom were taking care of Charlie for a week for Joyce, then we got attached to him and could not stop loving him. So my dad told my mom that we needed to take Charlie in, and foster him. Now Charlie is in a happy home with people who love him! Charlie still needs your donations to help his health care!!
