Caitlyns 7th birthday party benefits CCHS
Jul 5th, 2009 | By Spike | Category: Thrift Store newsThe generosity of little Caitlyn Bennett far exceeds her tender age of seven. On June 22nd, 2009 this young lady celebrated her 7th birthday. As in the past, her birthday would be celebrated with an outdoor gathering surrounded by lots of friends. The difference this year is that this special young lady and her Mom thought they could make a difference for charity at the same time.
Instead of receiving the normal gifts of lots of toys, Mom suggested picking a charity and asking her guests to bring something for her chosen group. Caitlyn didn’t think twice when she chose the Cherokee County Humane Society as her recipient. You see, Caitlyn’s grandmother had adopted a dog this past December whom she loves very much and understood the need to help other animals.
When it came time to hold her birthday celebration the theme was easy. There were temporary tattoos of dogs for the children and the movie on the lawn was none other than Hotel for dogs. Approximately 30 guests attended ranging from age 4 to 14 and all came with something to help the animals.
On Monday June 29th, we had the pleasure of meeting Caitlyn and her Mom. They brought with them the many items collected at her birthday party. Over 40 cans of cat and dog food, toys, snacks, shampoo cleaning supplies and even a monetary donation was given to us by this remarkable child!
We are very proud of this special young lady and greatly appreciate her concern for the animals. What a wonderful example of unselfishness she has taught so many other youngsters and adults alike!
Our hats go off to you Caitlyn for making a difference to all of us!
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
