CCHS Thrift Store
We are proud to say that we celebrated our fifth anniversary of the thrift store on April 16th 2009. Just 6 years ago this was all a vision to us and now as we celebrate our 5th year our hopes and dreams are coming true.
The original idea for the thrift store was spun from past yard sales and fund-raisers from the previous 25 years. To past President of the Humane Society Ottis Moore, his idea was to have a yard sale 365 days of the year by opening a store. This, he thought, would provide a constant revenue source for the Humane Society and an pportunity for volunteers to help the community.
The first store opened on April 16th 2004 and was located at 5505 Bells Ferry Road in Acworth. Just three years later the store moved to 5900 Bells Ferry Road. This move proved to be a wonderful decision as it has provided us a place to make changes and grow.
Under the direction of General Manager Ottis Moore, the store has now added a Mini-Bark park for the residents of our community to bring their dogs to run and play. A garden graces the back of our store where fresh vegetables are grown and changes are constantly being made for the better.
Thanks to our patrons and friends we were able to help spay/neuter 278 animals in 2008 and adopt out 964 animals to loving homes. We assisted in emergency medical care for those in need and helped educate our community about foster and rescue efforts as well as the need to reduce the euthanasia rates in our county by lowering the over population of pets in Cherokee.
As always we will continue to work for our community. With your continuing support we can increase our efforts and be more aggressive with our programs. Together, we can and will make a difference!
